'Great Day for a Scrimmage'

HUNTSVILLE -- Under clear, blue skies Saturday, the Bulldogs banged helmets and pads in their second scrimmage of the spring.

The next time they'll go all out is the Maroon & White Game on April 22.

"It was a great day for a scrimmage and we had a really fun time competing against one another today," said Head Coach James Spady.

As in last week's scrimmage, Spady said he is encouraged as he sees his team continue to grow and improve.

Also, the defense was spotlighted as the unit continues to learn and buy in to defensive coordinator Travis Pearson's program.

"It was exciting to see our defense continue its maturity and evolution," Spady said. "I'm encouraged to by the improvements I'm seeing throughout the entire team but, especially, our 'D.'

"Good job by Coach Pearson and his crew."

The remaining practice dates are: Monday - 4 p.m., shells, no contact; Wednesday - 4 p.m., full pads, no contact; Friday - 4 p.m., helmets, no contact; Saturday - noon, Maroon & White Game/High School Junior Day.

All workouts and the Maroon & White Game will be at Louis Crews Stadium.

The public is invited and there is no charge for admission.
