THE HILL | Alabama A&M University head women's basketball coach Dawn Brown has announced the promotion of Briona Brown to Assistant Head Coach.
The promotion recognizes Brown's continued impact on the growth and success of the Alabama A&M women's basketball program, as well as the trust and leadership she has established during five seasons working alongside Coach Brown at Alabama A&M and Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
During her time on The Hill, Brown has helped Alabama A&M produce back-to-back 20-win seasons and capture the program's first outright SWAC Regular Season Championship. She has played an integral role in the program's defensive preparation, player development and academic accountability while helping establish the culture and standard that have fueled the Bulldogs' rise within the SWAC.
Prior to Alabama A&M, Brown spent three seasons on Coach Brown's staff at Arkansas-Pine Bluff, contributing in recruiting, skill development, academics and defensive game planning while helping develop multiple All-SWAC performers.
"Bri has earned this opportunity," said Coach Dawn Brown. "For five years and across two programs, she has been fully invested in our student-athletes and our success. Her loyalty, work ethic and growth as a coach have made her someone I trust to help lead this program. This promotion recognizes the leadership she has already demonstrated, and I'm extremely proud of her."
Brown played collegiately at Jacksonville University, where she earned All-ASUN honors and helped lead the Dolphins to the 2016 ASUN Tournament Championship and the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance. She later played professionally overseas before beginning her collegiate coaching career.
As Assistant Head Coach, Brown will take on an expanded leadership role within the Alabama A&M women's basketball program as the Bulldogs prepare for the 2026-27 season.
