Bulldog Club Hosts Breakfast Event with AAMU Coaches

HUNTSVILLE — While enjoying a good meal and a little camaraderie with friends, the Alabama A&M University Bulldog Club kicked off the 2018-19 athletic seasons Saturday morning with its annual Bulldog Club Breakfast.

A large crowd was in attendance at the Knight Complex for the Bulldog Club Breakfast, which is held each summer to begin the organization's fundraising for the upcoming athletic seasons.

For those in attendance, this was an opportunity to meet and mingle with Alabama A&M's coaches, including new football coach Connell Maynor.

Maynor was hired in January. He brings an impressive resume to the position. In eight seasons at Hampton and Winston-Salem State, Maynor amassed a 65-31 record and took Winsto-Salem State to the 2012 Division II national title game.

"We've got a lot to be excited about here at Alabama A&M," Maynor said while addressing those in attendance at the Bulldog Club Breakfast.

"I like the progress our players have made. They're working hard. They're in great shape. And I can promise you that our staff is going to coach these young men up and we're going to have a disciplined football team that does things the right way. We came here (to Alabama A&M) to win, and we're working hard to make that happen."

At the event, the head coaches from all of Alabama A&M's athletic programs were given an opportunity to speak to the Bulldog Club members.

The Bulldog Club also recognized softball coach Nakeya Hall, who was selected as the SWAC softball coach of the year after guiding the Bulldogs to a 21-18 record — the program's first 20-win season during this decade.

"We had a group of players who worked extremely hard this season," Hall said. "They built a great foundation for us to build on."

While the event provided an opportunity for fans to mingle with Alabama A&M's coaches, the purpose of the Bulldog Club Breakfast was to kick off fundraising for the upcoming athletic seasons.
