         <description><![CDATA[In celebration of National Student-Athlete Day, the Alabama A&M office of CHAMPS/NCAA Life Skills within the department of athletics, will host the second annual "Great Bulldog Race," along with other events on campus Tuesday, April 8. The race pits 10 teams of Bulldog student-athletes in a competition to gather historical information on Alabama A&M University throughout the day from various faculty and staff members known as "keyholders" on campus. The contest results are based not only on the fact-finding hunt, but grade point average and event involvement as well.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[For the first time in a 10-game span, the Alabama A&M women's soccer team found itself overmatched by an opponent Friday night as Georgia rolled past the Bulldogs 6-1 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at the UGA Soccer Stadium. Alabama A&M made its first trip to the NCAA postseason riding a nine-game unbeaten streak that included a sweep through the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament. Clearly, the No. 13 Bulldogs from the SEC were the faster, more physical team. The night was not without highlights on part of the visitors, however.]]></description>

Georgia will host the first and second rounds on Friday and Sunday with South Carolina (14-6-2) and Duke (8-5-6) filling out the opening game in the bracket. Alabama A&M, which won the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament to earn the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament, is making its first trip to the championships. She returned just in time to lead Alabama A&M to heights it had not yet reached in women's soccer. A&M captured its second SWAC women's soccer title Sunday with a 2-1 victory over Mississippi Valley State. Kanda scored both goals and was named SWAC Tournament MVP. In winning the league tournament, the Bulldogs secure their first-ever NCAA Tournament berth. The tournament field will be announced on Monday night.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[Belinda Kanda's goal in the 74th minute on an assist from Brittan Thomas pushed Alabama A&M past Grambling 2-1 in the SWAC Tournament semifinals Friday. After a scoreless first half, Grambling opened the scoring just one minute into the second half. A&M settled down, and Rachel Sepeng tied the game in the 65th minute on an assist from Kanda. The Bulldogs will face Mississippi Valley State in the championship game on Sunday at noon. The winner earns the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[Using a 10-3 shot margin, Alabama A&M garnered a 2-0 victory over Southern in the first round of the SWAC Women's Soccer Tournament. The 2003 tournament champion are looking to return to the same form that garnered them the conference's first women's soccer title. Rachel Sepeng assisted on a goal in the second minute of play and then scored in the 16th minute of action. Alberta Annan was on the receiving end of the Sepeng assist and scored the opening goal of the match. Belinda Kanda had the assist on Sepeng's goal.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[Every Bulldog fan knows about the showdown Saturday at Legion Field in the Magic City Classic. What some might not know is that the women's soccer team, with head coach Frank Davies, faces one of its most important weekends of the season at home with games on Friday and Sunday. The Bulldogs host Southern on Friday at 3:00 and will look to stay unbeaten against the SWAC West in preparing for the conference tournament. On Sunday, however, the SWAC East race will be in the balance as Jackson State pays a visit to The Hill at 1:00. JSU and A&M are the only unbeaten teams left in the SWAC East race (A&M has a tie). With a win, the Bulldogs can help to secure a number one seed in the conference tournament.]]></description>
