Alabama A&M Drops 12-8 Decision Against Florida A&M

TANNER, Ala. - Alabama A&M (5-17, 3-5 SWAC) dropped a 12-8 decision against Florida A&M (11-17, 5-3 SWAC) in an NCAA Division I baseball game on Saturday, April 2.
 
In the first inning the Bulldogs would waste no time getting on the scoreboard as graduate center fielder Nemo Wright (PG county, Md.) scored on a passed ball before sophomore first baseman Trevor Berkemeyer (North Las Vegas, Nev.)  singled to shortstop and brought home freshman left fielder Janmikell Bastardo (Fort Myers, Fla.) for a 2-0 lead.
 
The score would remain that way until the top of third inning as the Rattlers responded with a run each from Zeddric Burnham and Joseph Pierini to even the game 2-2. They would then take the lead in the top of the fourth inning as Jalen Niles singled to right center to bring home Adam Haidermota before Niles scored to increase the advantage to 4-2.
 
Pitching would rule the day until the ninth inning as the Bulldogs answered with junior catcher Jared Tribett (Lumberton. Miss.) singling through the left side to bring home graduate right fielder Tim Dixon (Debary, Fla.) before sophomore first baseman Trevor Berkemeyer (North Las Vegas, Nev.) reached on a fielder's choice to allow Wright to score and once again tie the game, 4-4.
 
Florida A&M would then answer in the top of the 10th with a run each from Pierini, Ty Hanchey, Grant Rowell and Haidermota to take the lead, 8-4. The Bulldogs would then respond in the bottom of the inning loudly as Dixon homered to right center and brought home sophomore second baseman Chandler Stocking (Midway, Utah) and sophomore catcher Dillon Roop (New Market, Ala.). Junior catcher Jared Tribett (Lumberton. Miss.) would then walk and Wright scored on a wild pitch to deadlock the game at 8-8.
 
The Rattlers would respond in the bottom of the 11th inning with a barrage of runs as Rowell singled up the middle and LJ Bryant and Pierini scored before Jared Weber singled to left field and brought home Rowell and Hanchey to close out the 12-8 decision.
 
Rowell led the Rattlers with a 2-of-6 day, three RBIs and two scored runs while Haidermota went 3-of-6 with two RBIs and a run scored. Bryant was 1-of-5 with a pair of RBIs and a run scored while Pierini went 2-of-4 with two runs scored. Raylan Wagner threw one inning, allowing no earned runs and struck out two to move to 1-0.
 
Dixon led AAMU with a 2-of-6 day with three RBIs, a home run and two scored runs while Berkemeyer went 3-of-6 with two RBIs. Wright was 1-of-2 with three runs scored while Tribett was 2-of-4 with an RBI. Sophomore pitcher Evan Crenshaw (Memphis, Tenn.) threw one inning and allowed one earned run to fall to 2-1.
 
The Bulldogs are back in action tomorrow, Sunday, April 3 as they wrap up their three-game series against Florida A&M. Field First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m. at Calhoun Community College's Fred Frickie Park located at 6250 US-31 N, Tanner, Alabama.
