Jackson, Miss. -
Most teams would be happy finishing their conference play with a 7-2 overall record and a number two seed in the conference tournament. That is not the case for the Alabama A&M women's bowling team, who entered last weekend's SWAC Roundup as the favorite, but left the event one game behind Jackson State in the Eastern Division. Both teams advance, along with Alabama State, to the SWAC Tournament.
Jackson State took over the top spot from Alabama A&M, after beating the Bulldogs in competition Sunday. The Tigers knocked down 896 pins, while AAMU bowled an 862. JSU finished 8-1 in the conference, 18-6 overall. The Bulldogs were 19-5 overall, 7-2 in the SWAC.
The Bulldogs will look to rebound against a strong national field at the Mid-Winter Classic starting Friday in Jonesboro, Ark.
